Nicholas McLaughlin
Bend chronicles the innovations, designs, and aspirations of Nicholas McLaughlin. With an MS and BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Lowell (UML), Nicholas is developing his career as an accomplished innovator, designer, and engineer. As a graduate student, Nicholas concentrated in Vibrations, Dynamics, and Controls as well as Engineering Entrepreneurship. As an undergrad, he minored in Business Administration for Engineers.
Currently, Nicholas works full time as a Mechanical Engineer at Persimmon Technologies Corporation, a company that designs and builds vacuum robotics for semiconductor manufacturing. Here, he works in new product design, development and expansion of existing product lines, finding solutions to technical quandaries, and leading various projects development.
Previously, Nicholas was developing a patent-pending interchangeable modular guitar at Cardinal Music Co. (CardinalGuitars.com). He was the founder, CEO, and chief design engineer, responsible for bringing the musical innovation to market. Before that, Nicholas left his role as Chief Technology Officer, Project Manager, and Engineer at Ceromoze. In these roles, Nicholas led the development, design, validation, manufacturing, and testing of a novel wearable respiratory device.

What is Bend?
Bend stands for “Bespoke Engineering and Design.” This fundamentally encapsulates the vision and mentality of Bend – to “create elegant solutions to unique problems.”
At this moment, Bend is a host for Nicholas McLaughlin’s portfolio of engineering design. Eventually, this will transform into an industrial design and engineering firm of the same name.
What kind of projects does Bend take on?
All the projects shown on this site are Nicholas’ innovations. They are new inventions, unique takes on current products, or concepts that have been initially developed.
