Above is the final design of a 4-bar linkage with a double dwell mechanism. This design was assigned to me as a project in my undergraduate studies. Though this design is mostly rooted in edification (therefore it is slightly abstract), it can be thought of as a useful mechanism for production. This would translate & rotate the green plate along a plane such that the plate may undergo some operation (such as spot welding) in an applied situation. The gray sketch overlaying the video indicates this desired position. The black sketch, however, traces the path of the dwell mechanism.
Originally, the design consisted of just the four-bar linkage (below) which then evolved into the far more complex design shown in the video.
The simpler design was manufactured and tested for position accuracy in which It performed reasonably well. There were some slight deviations likely generated during the manufacturing processes used.
